I have no problem with my fear of heights. When the human brain looks at a long drop, it’s naturally hardwired to flip out. After five million years of falling off cliffs, the evolutionary takeaway is that gravity works. So as a species, we shy away from looking down, right?

“…these new glass enclosures that extend 4.3 feet beyond the side of the building. Beneath peoples’ feet lies the sprawling Illinois city - 103 storeys, or 1,353 feet, below. Just an inch-and-a-half of glass separates the visitor from the street underneath. The attraction is due to open in June.”

This could be made of concrete and I wouldn’t stand on it. But glass? An inch-and-a-half of glass? I’m petrified vicariously.
