This weekend I had the good fortune to watch as David Cross spanked Jonathan Ames onstage at the Brooklyn Book Festival.

This was part of the Happy Ending Music & Reading Series, where in addition to reading before a crowd, authors are required to “take a risk” by doing something that they’ve never done onstage before. Jonathan Ames’s risk was to be paddled by David Cross.

What was David Cross’s risk? Kissing John Ames.
