There is no freestanding constitutional right not to be framed.

So speak the Iowa prosecutors who, in 1977, wrongfully convicted two men of murder and incarcerated them for 25 years.

They’re currently being sued by the former defendants. It’s a really interesting story that brings to light the fascinating issue of prosecutorial immunity.

On the one hand, prosecutors have to be immune from retribution in order for our legal system to function. On the other hand, this same immunity opens up a window for some people to be complete dicks.
